School Health Guidelines

    • If your child is feeling ill or achy or has symptoms of the flu, please do not send them to school even if they are not running fever.

    • If they are running a temperature, they must stay at home. A child with a temperature of 100.2 or above should remain at home. They cannot return to school until they are fever free for 24 hours without being treated with medication. Please do not give your child Tylenol or Advil to lower their fever and send them to school.

    • If they are vomiting or have diarrhea, please keep them home until they are free from these symptoms for 24 hours.

    • Fever: A temperature of 100 or above is to be excluded from school until fever free for 24 hours.

    • Vomiting/Diarrhea: Exclude from school until free of these for 24 hours.

    • Strep Throat: Exclude from school until the child has been taking antibiotics for 24 hours and free of fever for 24 hours.

    • Viral Infections: Exclude from school for 3 days or until rash fades and fever free for 24 hours.

    • Chicken Pox: Exclude from school until all sores have disappeared and healed.

    • Mumps: Exclude from school until swelling is gone.

    • Measles: Exclude from school until sores have disappeared and healed.

    • Fungus (ringworm): if suspected or diagnosed, the student will be excluded from school until the appropriate treatment is started. Lesions must be covered with a band aid until completely healed.

    • Impetigo: If suspected or diagnosed, the student will be excluded from school until appropriate treatment is started.
